1. Have your family and friends
aware of the starting time. Family members, including
in-laws, nieces and nephews, should to be ready
before the actual starting time. The entire wedding
party needs to be ready including ushers and candle
lighters, if they are in matching attire.
2. Eat! Eating settles your nerves and helps prevent
fainting. Have cheese and crackers or something
else available to snack on, along with a soft
drink. It can really “hit the spot!”
Also, the day is more festive when your stomach
is settled.
3. Use normal makeup for your wedding day. Try
to achieve a natural look for your wedding photographs.
Powder will cut down on facial shine and a cover
stick can be used to hide blemishes or cold sores.
The groom should also consider using these ideas!
4. Try your tuxedos on at the store before bringing
them home. Don’t forget to try on your shoes
and ties too. Be sure all the studs are there
and that everything’s the right color, style
and fit. It’s fun to look sharp for this
day!
5. If you wear glasses, we recommend that you
have your optometrist remove the lenses or lend
you frames that will match your normal glasses.
This will prevent facial and /or eye distortion
from glass glare that can occur.
6. Have, with you, the home phone numbers of your
wedding party and any businesses that will be
serving you. If someone doesn't arrive on time,
you will want to call them.
7. Wearing comfortable shoes will bring an easy
smile!
8. If you have special candles or candelabras
at the alter and you want them lit for all the
pictures, we recommend having a second set to
replace them at the time of the service. Air conditioners
and fans will distort them.
9. Make sure you are happy with how the church
is decorated. During some holidays, such as Easter,
brightly colored banners may be hung and you may
or may not want then in your photographs. Discuss
this with your church coordinator.
10. When planning where to have the cake table,
consider the background and how it will be photographed.
Is there a doorway? Are there distracting wall
hangings? If you are planning a backdrop, height
is very important so that you don’t see
where the background leaves off. It can’t
always be cropped out of your photographs. An
8 foot or taller background is recommended.
11. Wear your wedding rings during the photography
session. Your rings will be featured in several
photographs and this will save time in locating
them.
12. Get plenty of rest the night before the wedding.
No amount of makeup will substitute for plenty
of rest!
13. Please, do not pin your white aisle runner
down before the photographs. We will be out of
the sanctuary a half an hour before the wedding.
The aisle runner can be pinned down at that time.
