About Lacquering and Mounting Because photographs are susceptible
to heat, moisture, fingerprints and light, we
highly recommend that all photographs be protected
with a photographic lacquer coating. The coating
is similar to the clear coat finish that is available
on expensive luxury cars to protect their finishes
from the sun. Even an improperly aimed sneeze
can destroy a photograph, not to mention fingerprints,
or spilled beverages. When a photograph has been
protected by photographic lacquer, it can be wiped
clean with a damp cloth. Mounted photographs are
applied to a hard art board, and need no glass
in front of them.
